On Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, more than 400 campus stakeholders gathered at the Kellogg Conference Center for the annual Student Success Launch—an energizing half-day event focused on shaping an MSU where every student can learn, thrive, and graduate.

The event opened with remarks from President Guskiewicz and Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education Mark Largent, who emphasized the importance of our collective efforts in supporting student success. Executive leaders including Provost McIntyre and Vice President for Student Affairs Jim Hintz underscored the university’s commitment to transformative change.
Spotlight on Strategic Initiatives
Throughout the morning, initiative leaders engaged attendees in interactive sessions and feedback discussions centered on major efforts driving student success. These included:
- Modernization of general education
- Revision of university learning goals
- Academic Standing Policy reform
- Transfer student success strategies
- Retention and completion initiatives, including Emergency Fund support
- Development of the First-Generation Student Success Center
Participants explored how these initiatives are designed to move the rocks, boulders, and mountains that stand in the way of student progress.
Supporting Basic Needs: Spartan Shelf Launch & Donation Drive
A new addition to this year’s Launch was the Back-to-Campus Donation Drive, supporting students’ essential needs. Attendees contributed supplies that will be distributed through the MSU Food Bank and Basic Needs Program, which now includes the newly opened Spartan Shelf—a campus hub for basic needs support.
