Strategy and Retention

We understand that some students choose to take a break from their time at Michigan State University, attend a different institution to complete their college degree, or pursue other opportunities altogether.

Not every Spartan’s journey begins at MSU. Envision Green is a partnership between Lansing Community College (LCC) and Michigan State University (MSU) that helps students navigate between the institutions and maximize their opportunities at both. 

The Strategic Retention Unit is committed to ensuring that every student admitted to MSU has the opportunity to learn, thrive, belong, and graduate. Guided by MSU’s strategic goal of achieving an 86% graduation rate with no opportunity gaps by 2030, the unit takes a holistic, campuswide approach to student retention and success.

The Spartan Undergraduate Experience Strategy serves as a partner in the on-going effort to redesign MSU so that all students can learn, thrive, and graduate, by creating and enhancing the structures and processes for how MSU achieves our student success objectives.

The Strategic Student Success Initiatives (SSSI) Project Management Group provides coordinated leadership and support for Michigan State University’s student success portfolio. The group brings together executive sponsors, project leads, strategy, assessment, and communications partners to align initiatives, clarify expectations, and remove barriers to progress.
