Welcome to another amazing school year! Both the Office of Undergraduate Education and University Advising are excited to see our new and returning Spartans and eager to support our new class. I am personally ready to work with all the new advisors and leaders across campus connecting exploring students to your programs in the coming semesters.

University Advising welcomed 2,000+ students through our Exploratory Preference and Exploring Business Preference majors this summer. We are prepared to expose these students to the variety of majors we have across campus. Please share workshops and information sessions at UniversityAdvising@msu.edu early and often so we can assist in the promotion of your programming.

UA hosted our academic unit college colloquium on Aug. 23, 2024, in the STEM building. More than 1,100 students joined us to learn more about their exploration pathways, meet and greet Dean Mark Largent, and to connect with representatives from ROTC, Undergraduate Research, and Global Education.

Additional Updates

All new MSU advisors have access to a self-paced New Advisor Training course that will support and empower you to achieve success in your role. Advising leads feel free to provide this resource as a supplement to your onboarding process.

As previously announced, Michigan State University has adopted and fully implemented the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA).  Effective Aug.16, 2024, MSU implemented a new policy that clarifies how the MTA will be applied to transfer students' undergraduate general university requirements. This is a new policy and supersedes the previous MACRAO transfer agreement.
