FLI Vanderploeg Scholars

Welcome First-Gen Students!

The First-Generation Leadership and Innovation (FLI) Vanderploeg Scholars Program was started in the Fall 2022 from a generous donation from Dr. Marty Vanderploeg to support the success of first-generation students at Michigan State University.

The FLI Vanderploeg Scholars program provides first-generation college students a supportive, multi-year experience where you can build community, grow as a leader, explore meaningful learning opportunities—like study abroad trips, internships, and research experiences—and receive holistic support, all within a close‑knit cohort.

Application Coming Soon!

The application will open late March/early April. Please check back here again for updates at that time.
