Undergraduate certificates are micro-credentials offered to undergraduate and/or guest students. In general, an undergraduate certificate involves an intentional collection of coursework and experiences equivalent to nine to 12 credits of contact time. Integration of experiential learning is strongly encouraged.

Depending on the type of certificate offered, academic units will follow a governance process, typically approval through the University Curriculum Committee, as they would for creating a major or minor program.
