Programs and Services

The Detroit M.A.D.E. program promotes personal and academic excellence that span the four year college journey. Students will engage in specialized programming including individualized advising, workshops, first year seminar, service-learning projects, education abroad or study away, and undergraduate research. It is through these opportunities and initiatives that Detroit Scholars will be involved in conversations and experiences that will prepare them for graduation from MSU and career.

Scholarships & Funding

Workshops are available that provide strategy and tips on when and how to find scholarships to fund your undergraduate and graduate career. Learn from higher education professionals on how to prepare applications, writing statements and more.

Michigan State University has a scholarship that allows students to research and apply for funding within their colleges, majors, identities etc. We encourage students to check this portal often to see what MSU specific scholarships they may be eligible for as well as other external scholarships listed below:

Community Engagement & Service Learning

In partnership with the MSU Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement and with various Detroit-based organizations, Detroit M.A.D.E. scholars will engage in a day of service. The day promotes and facilitates action and conversation around topics of civic responsibility, activism and citizenship in strengthening communities.

Students are also encouraged to look for extended service-learning projects by visiting the MSU Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement website.
