March 2024 Action Items and Resources for Students
Welcome back from spring break, Spartans! We hope you had a restful, relaxing and fun week. We all needed that time. We are in the homestretch of the semester with six weeks left that will go by faster than we think. See below for how to stay on track to thrive and finish strong!
MUST-KNOW ITEMS
- Enrollment appointments for fall 2024 begin March 18. Check your email or the Student Information System (SIS) for your date and time. Ensure your account is paid or in good standing to prevent any holds that could keep you from enrolling for fall.
- The 2024-25 FAFSA form is available. Get updated information about changes to the FAFSA at finaid.msu.edu/fafsa2024.
- As the Big Ten Tournament, March Madness, and St. Patrick’s Day approach, we remind you to celebrate safely!
1) Take care of yourself and others.
- Free HPV vaccines are now available for uninsured or underinsured students. Learn more.
- Get a fitness assessment or functional movement screening for just $10 in March by emailing SPARTANfit@msu.edu, or get a free health screening March 25, 1-4 p.m., at the MSU Union Ballroom.
- Take a study break and celebrate the start of spring at Beal Botanical Garden.
2) Engage in your academic experience.
- Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to discuss enrollment. Find them here: academic advising resources by college.
- Graduation applications are open for spring and summer 2024!
3) Get involved outside the classroom.
- MSU Libraries Student Art Contest: Some works from this annual art contest will be acquired into the library art collection and awarded $500. Submit your work by March 29.
- Associated Students of Michigan State University (ASMSU) General Assembly elections are March 25-29.
- The Gender and Sexuality Campus Center Advocacy and Action Award nominations are due March 25, 5 p.m. Learn more.
- Kick off MSU’s observance of APIDA/A Heritage Month with a documentary screening and discussion of “Nailed It” March 15 at 6 p.m. in the Minskoff Pavilion.
- OCAT is looking for MAGIC 2024 Peer Assistants! Download application at ocat.msu.edu; apply by March 22.
- Registration is still open for Women*s Student Services’ inaugural HEAL Sexual Health Conference, taking place March 30 at the MSU Union.
- Women’s History Month is underway! Check out this detailed calendar with a host of events from Women*s Student Services, Gender and Sexuality Campus Center, UAB and more!
4) Connect with important resources.
- Current first-year students: On-campus housing selection is almost here! Learn more on the Live On website.
- Check out the all majors career fair March 19.
- Peruse employment opportunities at the summer job fair March 27.
5) Billing and financial aid.
- Check SIS by going to student.msu.edu to review any balance due — next billing statements arrive March 13 and are due April 1.
- Ensure your account is paid or in good standing to prevent any holds that could keep you from enrolling for fall. Contact the Student Accounts Office with questions.
- Check the status of your current financial aid and take any necessary action via the MSU Financial Aid Portal in SIS. Contact the Financial Aid Office with questions about your financial aid.
6) And don’t forget!
- Mental health check! How are you doing? Explore how these resources from MSU can support you.
- Have you downloaded the SafeMSU app? Be sure to update your notification preferences at alert.msu.edu.
- Connect with your fellow Spartans with an on-campus job! View available opportunities here.
- Search, apply for and accept MSU scholarships at scholarships.msu.edu.
- Love the arts? Connect with jobs, events, academic programs and opportunities for MSU students at arts.msu.edu/students.
- Join the New Student Orientation Spartan Leader team for 2024! Apply here.
