April 2022 Action Items and Resources for Students
Dear Spartans,
Happy April! It is hard to believe the semester is almost over. It seems like we just welcomed everyone back to campus yesterday. For those graduating, we wish you the best of success on your future endeavors — remember to finish strong. For those returning next fall, finish strong this semester, enjoy your summer and we look forward to seeing you back in August. As always, we have some notable opportunities and items to advise you on this month.
1) Take care of yourself and others:
- Stay up to date on the latest COVID-19 mandates by visiting our Together We Will website.
- Preparing for finals or graduation can be a stressful time of year. Be sure to check out our master list of stress-busting wellbeing and mental health resources.
- As you plan for summer, if you need professional help moving or storing your belongings, Two Men and a Truck have partnered with MSU and specialize in campus moving and storage services.
2) Engage in your academic experience:
- Classes end officially April 29. Finals week is Monday, May 2-Friday, May 6.
- Fall 2022 Enrollmentby appointment begins April 11.
- Open Enrollment begins April 23.
- The University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum is April 8.
- Fill out the graduation application if you plan to graduate this semester, and don’t forget about your cap and gown.
- The Writing Center can help you with term papers, projects and much more.

3) Find your way and make connections:
- Check out the wide variety of IM Sports activities available, including basketball, golf, soccer, badminton and so much more.
- Stop by the Career Services Network Career Exploration Center in Suite 113 of the Student Services Building, noon-4 p.m., daily, to meet informally with a Career Services Network team member.
- The MSU Science Festival is a free annual celebration of science. From astronomy to music, and chemistry to microbiology, scientists and educators across the state share the wonder of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics, April 1-30.
- How do you use MSU’s campus to live, work and study? MSU is revising its facilities and land use plan, the road map for any future demolition, construction, or alterations to campus. Use this interactive map to share your feedback by April 22: comap.sasaki.com/msu
4) Get involved outside the classroom:
- The MSU Green and White Game is April 16.
- If you are participating in an Education Abroad trip, review the Preparing to Travel site.
- The MSU Sailing Center at Lake Lansing opens for the season May 6. Take a break and spend some time on the water. Canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddle board rentals are available. Learn more at Recreational Sports and Fitness Services’ Sailing Center webpage.
- MSU Spring Student Tax Referendum and Elections Week is April 4-10. Ballots Open at 8 a.m., April 4 and close at 11:59 p.m., April 10 EDT.
5) Connect with important resources:
- Review your on-campus housing options for summer if you are taking classes.
- You can find all sorts of training and tutorials from MSU IT for technology like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, OneNote, D2L and more at spartanslearn.msu.edu.
6) Billing and financial aid:
Be sure your student account is paid in full to ensure you will not have a financial hold preventing enrollment for summer or fall 2022 semesters.
- Other holds that could appear on your account:
- A hold for failure of incoming freshmen and undergraduate transfer students to complete the required Immunization Self-Report. If you have questions, please call the Office of the University Physician at517-353-9101, visithttps://uphys.msu.edu, or take a look at ourFAQs.
- A hold for being out of compliance with COVID-19 mandates. If you have questions, please contact the Student Compliance and Care team by emailingcovidcompliance@msu.eduor calling 888-353-1294, option 5, extension 2, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday.
