MSU academic advisors honored at Recognition and Awards Ceremony

Hosted by the Office for Undergraduate Education, the annual MSU Academic Advisor Recognition and Awards Ceremony invites the Spartan community to celebrate the dedication and accomplishments of MSU advisors. 

The 2023 award recipients were honored at the formal ceremony on Feb. 5, 2024, at the MSU Union Ballroom. The ceremony recognized: 

  • Lindsay Naylor, who received the Outstanding Established Academic Advisor Award
  • Yvonne Morris, who received the Outstanding New Academic Advisor Award
  • Monaca Eaton, who received the Outstanding Advising Administrator Award

Ceremony guests enjoyed light refreshments throughout the award presentations followed by a networking opportunity.

It was a full house inside the Union ballroom as attendees listened to remarks from MSU leadership including Interim Provost Thomas Jeitschko

and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Mark Largent.

Lindsay Naylor, pictured to the left with one of her nominators, Erica Weeks, received the Outstanding Established Academic Advisor Award, which celebrates an established professional advisor who has contributed to the MSU community for more than three years. Lindsay is from the College of Engineering and was also nominated by Kristina Chan.

Yvonne Morris, pictured to the right with nominator Ruth Nicole Brown, received the Outstanding New Academic Advisor Award, which recognizes an advisor who has been in the field of advising for three years or less. Yvonne is from the College of Arts and Letters.

Monaca Eaton, pictured to the left with nominator Jamie Griggs, received the Outstanding Advising Administrator Award, which recognizes the accomplishments of an individual who serves as an administrator or director of an academic advising unit. Monaca is from the College of Social Science.

After the awards presentation, recipients gathered for a photo with colleagues and MSU Leadership in attendance. 

With the formal ceremony concluded, all attendees were welcomed to socialize during a networking period while “getting to know you” slides of MSU academic advisors were shared on the main screen.
