The beginning of the school year has brought challenges and hardship to many in our community. Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, and the earthquake in Oaxaca have affected many MSU students and their families. Similarly, the cancellation of DACA and the uncertainty surrounding its future weighs heavily on many students.
As advisors, please reassure all affected students that MSU is here to assist in any way that we can. In addition to being available to assist students personally, please be aware of the following resources:
· The Office of Financial Aid on the 2nd floor of the Student Services Building can work through financial issues. They can be contacted by phone at 517-353-5940, by email at email@example.com, or on the web at finaid.msu.edu.
· Counseling services are available through Counseling & Psychiatric Services on the 3rd floor of the Olin Health Center if students need to work through more personal issues. That office can be contacted at 517-355-8270, by visiting them in person or through their website at caps.msu.edu.
· If a student has any concerns related to academic pursuits which you cannot resolve, please contact Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies, Deb Dotterer (firstname.lastname@example.org) for assistance.
· For international students, our Office of International Students and Scholars has engaged the firm Morneau Shepell to provide online advice and support in multiple languages and in a culturally aware fashion. The service can be reached by phone at +1-866-743-7732, on the web at http://us.myissp.com, or by downloading the “My SSP” app in either the iTunes or Google Play stores.
