Joining a Student Organization
September 15, 2011Every student at Michigan State should make it a priority to join a Student Organization. There are over 550 registered student organizations on campus. There are organizations in a wide variety of interest areas, including academic, business, charitable, environmental, international, political, religious, and sports and leisure. A full list of organizations and contact information can be found on the Student Life website.
The student organization I am involved with is Spartans Fighting Cancer, a chapter of the American Cancer Society’s Colleges Against Cancer Program. Through the program’s four strategic directions of Advocacy, Cancer Education, Survivorship, and Relay For Life, Spartans Fighting Cancer works to further the mission and goals of the American Cancer Society.
I encourage you to take a look at the Student Life website and browse through the pages and pages of registered Student Organizations. I’m positive that you are bound to find one that interests you. However, If you don’t find an organization that fits around your interest, you can create one! There are instructions on the website and the Student Life office is more than willing to help you with the procedure for starting one.
Joining a student organization is one of the numerous opportunities for you to enhance your undergraduate experience at Michigan State University even more!
